How to Reinvent Yourself When You’re Stuck In Life

There are times in life where we feel we are on top of the world, and there are other times where we feel stuck, nothing seems to work, we are stuck in the same position. And we want to grow, we want to move forward. It’s easy to forget that change comes with a new set of lenses

If we want to change and grow, we have to see things in a different way. And that’s exactly what reinventing yourself means. It is exploring new areas and insights about yourself that you didn’t know about.

You might reach a point at which you need to make a change. Whether that means a career change, making a lifestyle decision, finding your passion in life, or reevaluating your relationships, starting a business, or living a more fulfilled life.

However, it’s a process and sometimes we don’t even know where to start from. We think we need to look out for answers, but we forget that true change comes from the inside. Tapping into what we already know to be working and looking at it with a new set of eyes to get unstuck in life.

Define Where You Are

To recreate yourself you need to define or redefine exactly where you are. There’s a lot of pressure out there, and we tend to lose focus on ourselves. We might be intrigued by another person’s success, then we say “I should be able to do that”. Only to realize you still have a lot of work to do before you even get to that point.

The starting point is defining where you are, it’s like looking at yourself outside yourself. Looking at the specific area of your life where you want to change. You might ask yourself “What’s working?”, “What’s not working?”, “What do I need to stop doing?”. “What do I need to start doing?”

Think about the area of your life you struggle with in terms of growth and development or declination and failure. You can start with that:

  • Mindset: the quality of your thoughts
  • Values: what’s important to you
  • Habits: automatic behaviors
  • Mental Health: emotional, psychological, social well-being
  • Relationships: people you surround yourself with

If you are finding it difficult to tell which areas of your life need change, ask a friend or family member with the intention of supporting you.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

Once you figure out where you are, your next step is to acknowledge that recreating yourself is an ongoing process, it happens every single day. To overcome being stuck, take a step back and take intentional actions every day with the aim of learning and growing.

You can do this by developing new habits, or modifying your old habits, taking better steps, or learning from others each day.

Here are some daily things to think about when it comes to reinventing yourself


  • How can I be intentional with what I feed my mind every day?
  • Does my actions support my beliefs or challenge them?
  • How can I develop a growth mindset?


  • What kind of habits do I need to build?
  • Do my core values motivate me to move forward?
  • What daily activity can I do to strengthen my core values?


Mental Health

  • Am I really living each moment to the fullest?
  • Am I happy with the way I’m living right now?
  • What can I do to be happy with who I am?


  • Are my relationships limiting the way I think?
  • Do my friends provide value to me?
  • Are there any relationships I need to let go of to feel more stable?

Ultimately, asking these questions will give you a better idea of how you can approach and unstuck and area in your life whenever you notice yourself feeling unbalanced.

Set goals

Once you know where you are and where you want to go, it is important to set goals. If you don’t have a clear image of what you want your life to be, you can’t recreate it. You have to acknowledge that this change will not happen overnight, but with a series of steps.

Imagine what you want your life to be? The people you want in your life? Your health and wellness? How productive you want to be? And set goals towards them?

It is important to experiment and go beyond your comfort zone. Think big even though you might feel uncomfortable because that’s where the magic happens.
